Scarecrows are created by Businesses, Civic Groups, Individuals and Schools. Remember to vote for your favorite Scarecrow! Votes are $0.25 each and will be collected at Guerin’s Pharmacy, Simple Treasures, Cuppa Manna Cafe, and Wine & Tapas Bar. Voting opens October 10th.
Proceeds support JSL of Summerville’s School Supply Fund for Dorchester School Districts 2 and 4. If your school or group is interested in displaying a scarecrow, email firstname.lastname@example.org
The Junior Service League of Summerville is proud to present the 2020 Virtual Ghostwalk!
Our event will look a little different this year in an effort to keep everyone as safe as possible, but as they say, the show must go on!
This year’s Ghostwalk event will be an on-demand, self-led tour that will run from October 17th thru October 31st.
Instead of hearing the stories live as in past years, we will be recording videos of our Ghostwalk stories for tour-goers to watch virtually either while checking out our Scarecrows on the Square displays or in the comfort of your home! Our hopes are to make it easy for everyone to participate and feel safe and comfortable while doing so.
Instead of selling tickets, having game vendors, or concessions, we are asking for donations of $5, $10, or $20 to help support the JSL School Supply Fund, which benefits the Dorchester District 2 and Dorchester District 4 schools. Donations will be accepted on our website beginning on October 17th thru October 31st. After making your donation, guests will receive an automated email confirmation with the link to the watch videos!

*UPDATE* Due to COVID-19 the 2020 Derby Party has been cancelled. We look forward to the 2021 Derby which will be held on May 1st.
As we celebrate our 32nd year, The Junior Service League of Summerville is pleased to announce our new signature fundraising event, The Derby Party. This annual event is planned for Saturday, May 1, 2021 in the Gardens of Historic Linwood Inn.
This beautiful Victorian Estate tucked away in Downtown Summerville will be the perfect backdrop for this year’s Derby Party, which will feature live viewing of the Kentucky Derby, entertainment by Steve Simon & The New South Jazzmen, open bar, champagne raffle, silent and live auctions and Derby inspired cuisine. As is tradition, JSL Summerville will continue the presentation of the John Tupper Award in recognition of outstanding community service and involvement.
The proceeds from this highly anticipated event will go to support and fund grants for our partner civic organizations. In 2019 those partners include: Doors to Freedom, Dorchester Children’s Advocacy Center, Dorchester Habitat, Dorchester Museum, Dorchester PAWS, High School Injury Prevention Coalition, Katies Krops, Lighthouse for the Blind, Inc, Lowcountry Home of Hope, Meals on Wheels, Summerville Orchestra, Summerville YMCA, The Ark, The Flowertown Players, The Help, Vantage Point Foundation.
Questions regarding JSL Derby may be sent to email@example.com
